Art News:"A New Caravaggio" isn´t a Caravaggio. The newspaper of the Vatican said the recently restored canvas "The Martyrdom of St. Lawrence”, is not a Caravaggio. Further tests and analysis will be performed to learn more about the paintings origins.
London - an edition of the Edvard Munch print Madonna sold for £1,252,000 at Bonhams London, becoming the most expensive print ever sold at auction in UK. The lithographic print is one of only a few hand-colored editions of the work.
J.M.W. Turner’s painting of Rome, “Modern Rome — Campo Vaccino” (1839), was bought by the Getty Museum at Sotheby’s Old Master & British Paintings auction in London on Wednesday evening for £29,9 million ( including fees). The price is a record for the artist at auction.

Charles Saatchi has announced that he is giving his world-renowned Saatchi Gallery to Britain to create a new Museum of
Contemporary Art (Moca London). The museum will have a collection of some 200 of his artworks which are said to be worth £25 million.
Desaster contemporary art sale at Phillips London: At the contemporary art evening auction, held on June 29, almost 50% of lots found no buyer. Many lots sold below the low estimate or attracted no bids at all. Overall sales were £3,963,450 (presale estimate: £6,075,000-8,575,000).
London - Chris Dercon, a 51-year-old Belgian with broad curatorial experience will become new director of the Tate Modern. Dercon - currently director of Munich‘s Haus der Kunst will take his new position from early 2011.
Greater New York - organized by MoMA PS1 and The Museum of Modern Art, is showcasing works by 68 artists living and working in the metropolitan New York area. The show is on view at MoMA PS1 through October 18, 2010.
